Training Future Stars in Hospitality and Horticulture

La Salle Hotel School provides vocational training and inspiring employment pathways in catering, hospitality and horticulture. We primarily work with young people from around the Liverpool City Region at pre-further education age and our innovative centre is based in the heart of the Croxteth and Norris Green community.

In recent years, we developed a fully-functioning kitchen garden for growing sustainable produce; as well as fitting out a full professional standard training kitchen. Here, students participate in plot-to-plate learning programmes and discover the exciting and rewarding industries on their doorstep; whilst gaining practical skills and experiences to open up career pathways into the local Visitor Economy.

Work is well underway to prepare for the launch of our community restaurant, cafe and event space business. In the coming years, the hotel school will evenutally feature hotel guest accommodation with 13 bedrooms and conferencing facilities, enabling an expanded suite of training programmes to support the needs of local young people in finding their perfect career.

The La Salle Hotel School

With the aim of developing the next generation of hospitality professionals in the Liverpool City Region and beyond, we are partnered with the leading local further education institution - City of Liverpool College to deliver quality learning at La Salle.

Our students are given unparalleled taster training so that they can discover new practical and transferable skillsets, understand the basics of food hygiene, food safety & good nutrition whilst familiarising themselves with the workings of a professional kitchen before taking next steps into formal accredited training programmes.

We are partnered with some of the greatest restaurants and hotels in the country and through this range of private-sector partnerships, we connect local employers to students as part of the process to impart knowlege, experience and know-how, helping our young people to aspire to the highest standards of service!

Food For Growth

The Kitchen Garden

We're finding ways to help our communities to boost their skills, support career prospects, increase mental & physical health and decrease food inequality all through sustainable food growing!

Through our Food For Growth ‘plot to plate’ project work, we utilise our Kitchen Garden to produce a plethora of fruits and vegetables in three polytunnels and over 20 raised beds.

Partnering with leading land-sciences educational institution Myerscough College from their site at Croxteth Hall Country Estate, and with social enterprise Faiths4Change, we have opened up this gorgeous greenspace for community use. Here we teach our young people about sustainable growing, good nutrition and principles of climate action, carbon literacy, composting and reducing food waste. It's all about understanding where our food comes from to help us make better choices and try out growing at home.

With the kind work of all our supporters, we grow a whole bounty of produce each year - even including grapes and watermelons!
